Verify claims before style
Check every number, name, and assertion against a source you trust before touching the style. A draft only reads human once it is true: no rhythm or vocabulary rescues a false figure, and readers forgive a clumsy sentence but not an invented number. For example, if you cite a 2021 study as evidence, open the study and confirm the year and the real finding before polishing the sentence that presents it. Verifiable check: you can name the source of every statistic without guessing. The common mistake is beautifying elegant sentences first and discovering later that the central claim was false from the start. Open the cited source for each statistic and note the page beside it; a true detail survives this check while an invented one collapses immediately.
